Hedro Wiyanto is an Indonesian independent art critic and curator who often writes critiques about artworks in domestic and international media. He was born in 1959 in Tuban, East Java, Indonesia. He is a frequent contributor to TEMPO Magazine, KOMPAS newspaper, and Art Asia Pacific Magazine. His educational background includes a fine arts education at the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, then continued to master-philosophy at the Driyakarya College of Philosophy, Jakarta.
His interest in writing about artworks began when he saw artist friends who held exhibitions and then their works were written about by journalists, then he thought, why not just write about it? He felt closer to the artists and the art world. From there Hendro Wiyanto began to become a writer who reviews works of art.
